Introducing Dr Thembi Mtshali-Jones As Veteran Actress Gets Honored. Over the past couple of weeks, so many graduates have been receiving different accolades at their respective universities and colleges. Among those are celebrities such as Thabiso Molokomme, Mbulelo Katiso, Botlhale Boikanyo and Innocent Sadiki.
Thembi Mtshali-Jones has also joined in the 2022 graduates by officially becoming a Doctor. The legendary multi-talented singer, actress, producer and playwright actress, who is still doing amazing things on-screen recently got awarded an honorary doctorate from the Durban University of Technology. Mtshali-Jones was conferred an honorary Doctor of Philosophy in Visual and Performing Arts in a Virtual Autumn Graduation ceremony, on Monday, 16th May 2022.
Celebrating her achievement, she took to Instagram where she thanked the institution for honoring her. Mtshali-Jones also thanked everyone who has been sharing her news and celebrating with her.
“Thank you @dutartsanddesign and @dut_official1 for this amazing honor.I see that the cat has been let out of the bag. I am so humbled by all of the people who have been posting this milestone of mine and congratulating me,” she said.
Speaking about her journey, she stated that it has been a long one, filled with many challenges and achievements. What also makes her achievement special, is the fact that she received it from her home town.
Concluding her message of gratitude she went down memory lane on her journey in the industry. “I started my career in the early 70’s and I had no idea that even after 5 decades I would still be standing strong and still doing what I love.“
