That is why many brands choose well known people, who have a huge following on social media as their faces. It’s a win-win situation for both the influencer and the brand.

This though, doesn’t always sit well with consumers and ordinary people. They argue that these celebrities are not necessarily fans of the brands they represent, that they are just there for the bag. Case in point will be a few years back when Huawei Mobile SA launched its new P40 and P40 Pro high-end smartphones, an had A-listers as ambassadors.

The likes of Minnie Dlamini-Jones, Boity Thulo, Thando Thabethe, Nasty C, Anga Makubalo, DJ Tira and Nay Maps among others were chosen as part of the Huawei Mbile SA family. Many felt that it was wrong to use these celebs as most of them use iPhones. Well, this is exactly the kind of criticism that Kay Yarms is facing after being used by Hyundai for their promotion.

A lot of people are not impressed, that she is the chosen one, more so since the YouTube sensation drives a Mercedes Benz. They argue that Kay Yarms can’t be used because she doesn’t really know much about Hyundai. Others say beauty ifluencers, should not be used to in these kind of adverts since buying a car is a big deal.

However, Kay Yarm’s fans are celebrating their fave on her latest gig. They are also defending her, arguing that the fact that people are talking means she is doing a stellar job as an influencer.
