Charlize Theron Launches a Fundraiser for KwaZulu-Natal Flood Relief
Charlize Theron Launches a Fundraiser for KwaZulu-Natal Flood Relief. Almost 450 people have lost their lives as a result of the devastating floods in KwaZulu-Natal, while many are still missing. Moreover, thousands of homes have been destroyed, displacing countless residents. President Cyril Ramaphosa has thus announced that the country has returned to a national state of disaster.
South Africans are known to be compassionate and this is the time to exercise that quality. Already there are individuals who have come forth to assist and one of them is Patrice Motsepe. A few days ago, the billionaire businessman and Confederation of African Football president pledged R30m to be used to urgently help flood victims. Together with KZN leaders and his wife, Motsepe also visited various communities affected by floods in Durban.
Another globally known personality Charlize Theron has also come through for the victims. The South African born Hollywood actress has launched a fundraiser in support of flood relief efforts in KZN. Her organization, Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project, always support their partners in whatever challenges they face, and right now they are focusing on KZN. Theron is calling on to anyone out there to assist, and she has set up a fundraiser for such.
“My home of South Africa is going through an extraordinarily difficult time, and while I know much of the world is in pain right now, and a lot is being asked of us as global citizens, I’m hoping you’ll find it in your heart to help.”
