Things got more interesting a week ago when the Top 5, Mphowabadimo, Gash1, Themba, Libo and Tulz were announced. Each of them was strong in their own way, hence it was difficult to predict the winner.

Sunday evening came and Mphowabadimo made history as the first individual female to win Big Brother Mzansi. Her runner up Gash1, was also strong, and proved time and time again that a lot of people outside were rooting for him. Learn more about him from the 10 facts about him below.

1. His real name is Gershwin Brandon Mthombeni, and he is 28 years old.

2. Gershwin is a fashion designer and an entrepreneur. He has his own clothing brand called, The Femi Denim Company.

3. He rose to fame when he took the leap of faith and joined Big Brother Mzansi. Gash1 also stated that his mother is the one who kept on encouraging him to try his luck.

4. His motivation for entering Big Brother Mzansi was the money. He had plans to use the money to fund a few entrepreneurial projects, as well as build a house for his mother.

5. While inside the house, Gash eyed a few female housemates, but ended up pursuing a romantic relationship with, Thato Mokoena.

6. After his 71 days stay at the Big Brother house, Gash1 was one of two of 18 contestants who made it to the top two. He also made history as the most nominated housemate to face eviction.

7. Although he did not win the R2-million prize, Gash1’s supporters took it to themselves to donate money to Gash1 to show their love for him.
