Tweeps React to the News That Tbo Touch is Returning to Metro FM. Word on the streets is that veteran broadcaster Thabo “Tbo Touch” Molefe is set to return to Metro FM. This comes after he has been away from the station for just over six years and went on to start his own digital station, Touch HD.
According to some reports, Touch quit over the SABC’s refusal to deny reports that he had been taken off air for a week for refusing to read a Hyundai advert, to which the SABC later lost R15-million worth of advertising. His resignation came 11 years after being with public broadcaster. Tbo Touch is among top radio personalities who have left Metro FM over the years, among them DJ Fresh, DJ Sbu, Phat Joe, Glen Lewis, Bonang Matheba and many others.
It looks like Tbo Touch and Metro FM has kissed and made up though. When he left, he didn’t burn bridges, and has always been open for a reconciliation. Touch is said to be returning to host the station’s afternoon drive show, and will get a whopping salary of R480 000 per month.
As expected the news trended on social media. Most people are happy that he is making a comeback to the station, which has lost a lot of fans in recent years. Others however, are skeptical of Touch’s return, and want the industry to open for fresh new talent.
