Zozi Tunzi Scores First Acting Gig Starring Alongside Viola Davis! It’s been only up for Zozibini Tunzi since her crowning as Miss South Africa in 2019 and went on to be crowned Miss Universe the next year and made history whilst at it as the longest reigning Miss Universe. Now Zozi is conquering yet another side of Showbiz having scored her first ever acting role.
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, the beauty queen announced her entry into the film industry as the latest addition to the much anticipated upcoming Hollywood Film, The Woman King. In her statement, Zozi made sure to put a disclaimer on how she’s entering the new territory with respect and humility, before the critics come for her. “I am so honored and excited to announce that I have been cast for the film, The Woman King ( @womankingmovie ) . It is a completely new world and first time experience for me so I enter it with the utmost respect and humility. Forever grateful and looking forward ❤ #TheWomanKing,” Zozi wrote.
The movie which is in it’s early stages of production has been making headlines thanks to it’s star studded cast that includes Oscar Winning Viola Davis and our very own Thuso Mbedu and Makgotso Monyemorathoe who happen to be BFFs. After Makgotso M’s announcement on joining the cast earlier this year, critics speculated on whether her BFF Thuso had had a hand in getting the former a role. The Underground Railroad actress cleared the air on twitter saying, “All credit goes to her. No ladders here.”
We can’t wait to see all these proudly South African girls do what they do best in the movie and Zozi’s inevitable Hollywood takeover. Oh, and we’re already imagining those red carpet looks from the movie premier. Someone get us a ticket to Hollywood please!
