Proud Moment! Shota and Phumeza Mdabe’s Son Nails Braille. Having a child with any form of disability can be quite daunting to any parent out there. We all want to see our children healthy, and be able to do anything that a person their age can do. Sadly, that is not always the case, as some situations are way beyond parents’ control.

One couple which has to deal with having a child with a disability are the Mdabes. Shota and Phumeza Mdabe‘s son Mpilo was diagnosed with eye cancer a year after he was born, and now he is permanently blind. The celebrity couple have had to take time out of the spotlight to look after their son, as he went through a life changing phase.

As much as this is difficult for the family, Mpilo has worked really hard and remains an inspiration to both young and old people. He has not let his condition affect him in anyway, and does every activity you can think of including playing soccer, singing as well as playing musical instruments. The young champ recently started learning Braille at school, which is not an easy thing to do. Through persistence, he is finally getting it and took to social media to celebrate his milestone.

I was learning braille at school today? I used to get frustrated because the dots are so small and would all feel the same but now, I’m getting it,” Mpilo said.

He continues to make his parents proud in a number of ways, and we are here for that. Keep shining Milo!
