Proud Moment! Kylie Jenner Rocks a Thebe Magugu Design. When it comes to our local fashion industry, we are definitely on an international standard. Local designers like Gert Johan-Cotzee, Maxhosa by Laduma, Rich Mnisi and David Tlale, have dressed quite a number of international superstars.
Another talented designer doing amazing things in the industry is Thebe Magugu. The winner of the 2019 LVMH Prize, unveiled his autumn/winter 2021 presentation in spectacular fashion during the digital Paris Fashion Week in March 2021. For his AW21 collection, Alchemy, Magugu said he, interviewed and underwent sessions with traditional healers to inform pieces that explore the changing face of South African spirituality.
The collection, which embraces the world of healers, is a hit both locally and internationally. One global star who has been spotted with an item from Alchemy is Kylie Jenner. The American reality TV star and businesswoman looked all kinds of classy in a caped shoulder wool suit from AW21’s ‘Alchemy’ collection.
