Applications Open for the State Theatre Stage Technician (x2 Posts). The successful applicant will be reporting to Senior Production manager of the South African State Theatre.
Key Performance Areas:
- Attending production meetings and give input when required so that problems can be solved pro actively.
- Provide hands-on support during load-ins, technical rehearsals, performances, and load-outs.
- Assisting with setups of sets, décor and props during get-ins, rehearsals, performances and strikes.
- Assisting with maintenance and upkeep of scenic elements on productions.
- Ensuring that all work areas are kept clean and safe at all times.
- Ensuring that all aspects of the OHS act and other relevant legislation are adhered to and ensure that all safety aspects related to stage technical aspects are adhered to.
- Ensuring that all equipment is safely stored at all times to prevent theft, damage and unauthorized usage.
- Support the Stage Manager and technical team in executing scene changes and backstage operations.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of available equipment or stock
- Serve as Stage Crew on all in-house productions and co-productions.

Minimum Education and Experience
- Matric (NQF Level 4) or an equivalent qualification
- 1 Year theatre or live event experience and familiarity with cue sheets, scripts, and backstage etiquette
Knowledge, Skills and Critical Competencies
- Organizing skills
- Interpersonal Skills
- Good communication skills
- Be able to give briefs.
- Hands On.
- Technically Inclined.
