“It’s the Milestones We Won’t Get to See,” Florence Masebe Remembers Her Late Son
“It’s the Milestones We Won’t Get to See,” Florence Masebe Remembers Her Late Son. The death of a child is the most difficult thing any parent can go through. Sadly in so many cases, there is nothing much a parent can do to avoid it. Today as so many parents take to social media to celebrate their children going back to school, it is sadness to those that have lost their bundles of joy to death.
One such parent who will never get to see one of her children through school is Florence Masebe. The Award winning actress lost her son Masakona Matsila on her birthday on the 14th of November 2015. He was only 18 months old. The toddler died tragically from a drowning accident, and life has never been the same for Florence. In 2017, Florence penned a book in remembrance of her son. The Heart Knows, is a collection of poetic mourning or poems written during her time of mourning, and continues to be a source of comfort for mothers who are grieving.
As it is with any kind of loss, there are better days, and bad days. On this day, Florence could also be celebrating her son’s first day at big school, but sadly it was never meant to be.
“It’s the milestones we won’t get to see. The experiences we can only imagine,” Florence posted on Twitter. She also shared a picture of her son on Instagram, stating that he will always be remembered.
