Makgotso M Has a Message for Celebs Who Want to Share their Opinions on Social Media

Makgotso M Has a Message for Celebs Who Want to Share their Opinions on Social Media. Being a celebrity is a two sided sword. Because of your social status you get to enjoy fringe benefits, and the huge following that you have gives you a sense of belonging. On the other hand, public figures are policed like no one. Whatever you say or do can have you cancelled, dragged on social media or even lose money making opportunities.

That is why so many of our celebs are not active on social media platforms like Twitter. One of those celebs is Unathi, who has since stopped being a tweep because of cyber bullies. Some no longer share content they way they used to and prefer other platforms like Instagram, where they just share pictures and videos.

Over these past couple of days, we have seen personalities like Minnie Dlamini, Pearl Thusi, Ayanda Thabethe, as well as Terry Pheto get dragged for publicly standing with Amanda duPont over sexual assault allegations. These individuals were ruthlessly told where to get off, just for simply sharing their opinion and exercising their right to freedom of speech.

If you are among such personalities who wants to say something on trending issues, but fear other social media users, then you might have to heed Makgotso M’s advice. The talented actress has urged her fellow celebrities to never shy away from commenting on issues they feel strongly about. Makgotso stated that regardless of how people view the, their opinions are as valid as everyone else’s.

Dear celebrity If u have an opinion on social, political and economic issues, speak. (ofcourse if u feel to) If you are an individual that is considered a ‘celebrity’ dont let anyone belittle you, or dumb u down. Your opinion, education etc is valid just like anybody else’s,” Makgotso said.
