“I Decided to Choose Faith Over Fear,” Lalela Mswane on Taking Part in Miss Universe Pageant. It definitely takes a strong person to ignore being dragged on social media and not fold. Lalela Mswane clearly did not enjoy her reign as Miss South Africa. Just a few months in, she found herself enemy of the state for her participation in the Miss Universe 2021 pageant.
Lalela had to endure being dragged for not boycotting the pageant despite the cruel treatment of Palestinians at the hands of the apartheid Israel regime In the past couple of weeks, things got so bad for the beauty queen that even the South African Government wanted nothing to do with her, should she continue with the pageant. Pressure groups, some celebrities and some members of the public called her selfish for putting her interests before those suffering.
Nonetheless, she followed her passion, and started impressing the judges and onlookers from the moment she set her feet in Israel. Lalela did so amazingly well that she made the top three at the 70th Miss Universe pageant, becoming the 2nd runner up. Congratulatory messages poured in immediately, more so since she beat the odds to finish in a good position at the pageant.
Taking to Instagram to express gratitude over her win. She shared a saying about the power of beating obstacles that were meant to destroy you. According to Lalela, she chose faith over fear, to pursue a course she loves so dearly. She also thanked everyone who were there fr her during this life changing phase.
