Robert Marawa Makes a Major Comeback to the Airwaves
Robert Marawa Makes a Major Comeback to the Airwaves. Over the past couple of months fans have been urging some radio veterans to get back together and have their own radio station. This was fueled by few pictures of Robert Marawa, DJ Fresh, Tbo Touch, DJ Sbu, Phat Joe and Gareth Cliff, which have been circulating on social media.
The Fired Squad as these guys call themselves got axed from major radio station around the country. Should the radio station come to life, listeners will enjoy shows like Fresh 1st Warning hosted by DJ Fresh, Disciplinary Cliff, hosted by Gareth Cliff, Mo-Fired by D Sbu, Touch of Suspension by Tbo Touch, Sports Appeal by Robert Marawa as well as The Dismissal hosted by Phat Joe.
For a few days now, Marawa has been hinting that there is something on the cards for him. The cat is finally out of the bag, and the media personality has made his major announcement. Marawa has partnered with Arena Holdings to broadcast his award-winning sports show, Marawa Sport Worldwide (MSW) live on platforms such as SowetanLIVE website, Vuma FM in KwaZulu-Natal and Rise FM in Mpumalanga. MSW will be streamed live every Monday to Friday in these three platforms simultaneously.
The 90-minute show goes live on Monday between 5.30pm and 7pm and it will be done under a bridge in Katlehong, east of Johannesburg.
In July this year, Marawa was fired by SABC, where he anchored MSW radio show on Metro FM and Radio 2000. Marawa was let go together with Vaylen Kirtley who has been with SABC for 20 years. She presented the sport segment of SABC’s television current affairs show Morning Live and was also an anchor for SABC sport programming. SABC issued a statement, but they did not reveal the reason behind their dismissal.
