Nokuthula Mavuso Recalls How Her Mother Suffered at The Hands of the Apartheid Police Back Then. Many people alive today have the saddest stories about apartheid. A lot saw their family members humiliated, violently beaten and even killed. Some even experienced those things themselves, but by luck escaped death.
It goes without saying that deep wounds were opened on Thursday when it was announced that the last apartheid president Frederick President FW de Klerk has passed away. So many people took to social media to celebrate the news. However, others recalled on how they really suffered while he was still in power, before South Africa became a democracy in 1994.
Celebrities like Pearl Thusi were bold enough to share their views over FW de Klerk’s passing. The media personality and actress, crushed anyone who tried to speak highly of the former president. Pearl also weighed in on whether there should be a state funeral for him or not. She stated that if FW de Klerk gets a state funeral, it will be a huge middle finger to the people who suffered under the apartheid regime in South Africa. Should the state funeral take place, Pearl urged people to disrupt it.
Another celebrity has shared her views on this trending matter. Nokuthula Mavuso, spoke about how her late mother used to suffer back then because of the police. The talented actress, considers it a miracle that her mom survived the 80s and 90s violence. She says, although she was young, she still remember, and shared the story of how one cop was always on her mom’s case.
This cop always watched their mom like a hawk, and asked for her whereabouts whenever she was not around. In one incident the cop came to their house one Saturday morning wanting to arrest Nokuthula’s mom. She witnessed her mother getting dragged out of the house, and she was only helped by the neighbors.
She also mentioned her father’s brother who sadly died so young. His son was a baby when he was brutally murdered by apartheid police. So because of all this, Nokuthula is not about to feel anything for FW de Klerk.
