Nandos Distances Itself From a Load Shedding Joke
Nandos Distances Itself From a Load Shedding Joke. When it comes to creative ads, that are always relatable, Nandos are always a step ahead of their peers. Every time something trends on social media, Nandos picks that up and makes a hilarious ad. Their Twitter page is also filled with hilarious content, and their followers are always hailing the admin of the page.
Having noted that though, it is not all the time that their adverts land. One of their recent ads got them in so much trouble on social media. The storyline of the ad was about an Ekurhuleni couple which made breaking news when they announced that they are expecting 11 babies. They got the world’s attention over their record breaking news, and received gifts from all over. After some time, it became obvious that this was all a scam and there were no babies. This reminded us of the story that happened a few months ago about the Thembisa 10.
Many people bashed them saying that Nandos are condescending towards black people through their adverts. They also noted that there are no ads that take on white people. As the country is dealing with constant power cuts, many called for Nandos to do a joke about load shedding and make fun of the white bosses at Eskom. Immediately an ad came out featuring Eskom CEO, André de Ruyter. On the ad, he was labeled as an incompetent leader, who can’t deliver the country from load shedding.
Nados took to Twitter to distance themselves from the advert. They stated that the Twitter account that claims to be of Nandos is fake.
