Celeb Friendships That Have Lost Their Spark (Part II)
Celeb Friendships That Have Lost Their Spark (Part II). Friendships are an integral part of our lives. A friend will always be there through thick and thin, and some have even turned into family. We have seen the likes of DJ Zinhle and Pearl Thusi, Thandiswa Mazwai and Bonnie Mbuli, Unathi and Minnie Dlamini and so many pairs, serve us inspirational friendship goals over the years.
The reality of the matter is that at some point life happens, and there is a fall out. People can outgrow each other, they can meet new people, distance can be a factor, and sadly in some instances there is some betrayals that damage whatever the friends had. The following pairs used to make headlines because of their beautiful friendships, but sadly they are no longer as tight as before.
Lerato Kganyago and DJ Zinhle
One of the pairs that we used to admire a lot is that of DJ Zinhle and Lerato Kganyago. For one, these women are doing great in the male dominated industry as DJ’s. It used to be so cool seeing them hype each other and attend red carpet events together. People started to notice cracks, when Zinhle was not invited to Lerato’s wedding in 2019. Since then, their bind went South, and they are no longer tight.
Bonang Matheba and Pinky Girl
With Bonang Matheba, you never know if she is still vibing with a person or not. She chose to keep that part of her life private. But we can’t ignore the fact that she and her cousin Pinky Girl, used to be such a tight pair. From red carpet events to international vacations, these two were the envy of many. But even before Bonang moved to the US, they stopped hanging out as they did before.
Sizwe Dhlomo and Unathi
Unathi and Sizwe Dhlomo are currently at a bad space with each other. They weren’t really best friends, but what they had was strong. Unathi was even excited when Sizwe joined Kaya FM, to be her colleague. Sadly office politics saw these two turn against each other, leading to Unathi losing her job at the station. Definitely one of the saddest ending to a friendship.
Somizi and TT Mbha
It’s very rare for a straight man to become best friends with a gay man. Somizi and TT Mbha defied those odds as they became best of friends. They did almost everything together, with TT making several appearances on Somizi’s reality show. People started talking when TT wasn’t chosen as a best man at Somizi’s wedding. The two also were hardly seen together, something that left people talking.
AKA and DA L.E.S
When it comes to two individuals who gave us cure bromance vibes, it has to be AKA and DA L.E.S. They gave us that thing, that is so much needed in the Hip Hop industry, brotherhood. Sadly, whatever they had seems to have fizzled. Last year, DA L.E.S released a diss track, Gucci Snakes which many claimed was directed at AKA. The two though maintain that they are still friends.
Ricky Rick and Cassper Nyovest
What is Hip Hop without beef? Cassper Nyovest and Ricky Rick used to have one of the strongest bond in the industry. The award winning rappers even worked on some couple of projects together. Now the two do not see eye to eye, and Ricky Rick now vibes with Cassper’s biggest enemy, AKA. Cassper once admitted in an interview that there was no real issue and that it was all about egos.
Connie Ferguson and Rami Chuene
This is another relationship that was ruined by office politics. Connie Ferguson was Rami Chuene’s boss on one of their Ferguson Films production. Rami was cast on The Queen as Gracious Mabuza, and often sang the praises of Connie, who was her boss as well as colleague. As it is in the industry, their relationship turned sour and Rami’s character was killed off the show.
