10 Interesting Facts Abut DiepCity’s Zikhona Bali (Asanda). It goes without saying that DiepCity has become one of the most loved telenovelas in the country at the moment. The Mzansi Magic show has brought us fresh talent like Moshine Mo Mametja, Lebohang Mpyana among many others. It has also brought back famous faces to the small screen.
Among those who made a major comeback is Zikhona Bali. The talented actress plays Asanda on DiepCity, and she has fit on that Pastor wife role as a glove. Learn more about her from the 10 facts below.
1. Zikhona Bali was in born 07 June, 1985 in Humansdorp, and raised in Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape.
2. She matriculated from Riebeek College Girl’s High School, and went on to do a Diploma in Media Studies and Journalism at Boston Media House, from 2008-2010.
3. After that Zikhona worked as a photographer, writer and marketing and PR assistant.
4. She is best known for her recurring role as Ziyanda on the SABC1 drama series Mfolozi Street., where she made her onscreen acting debut, in July 2014. She reprised the role in Season 2, in 2016.
5. In 2015, Zikhona appeared in a number of television series with roles in the Mzansi Magic soapie Zabalaza, the e.tv soapie Rhythm City and the SABC2 sitcom Gauteng Maboneng.
6. She has also played the lead role in an episode of the e.tv drama anthology series eKasi: Our Stories entitled “Thula Thula“. It was about an ambitious young girl whose plans are derailed when her Uncle abuses her. In the same year Zikhona guest starred in the fourth season of the e.tv drama series Umlilo.
7. In October 2016 she landed her first starring role in television, on the Mzansi Magic teen drama series Is’thunzi, which followed the exploits of four girls who call themselves “Ninjas”. She played Londi, a young wife who defies her in-laws by returning to school to get her matric.
8. Isi’thunzi gave Zikhona a big break and a notable nomination for the Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series SAFTA in 2019.
9. Zikhona has also starred alongside the Oscar-winning actor Forest Whitaker in the movie The Forgiven, based on Archbishop Tutu’s role as chairman of South Africa’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
10. The talented actress currently plays Asanda in the Mzansi Magic telenovela, DiepCity, which explores the struggle of four young women trying to make their way in the world.
