Eskom has just announced that it will implement load shedding stage four due to a shortage of generation capacity. Consumers can expect to be shed up to 12 times over a four-day period for two hours at a time, or 12 times over an eight-day period for four hours at a time. The stage four load shedding will go on until 05:00 on Friday.

Ayanda said instead of people buying luxury brands such as Gucci, they could invest in necessary equipment like inverters. This is a device that converts direct current (DC) electricity, which is what a solar panel generates, to alternating current (AC) electricity, which the electrical grid uses.

“Me thinks if you can afford a Gucci (or other luxury brand) shoe – you definitely can afford an inverter … there’s really no need for you to know what load shedding is … that thing works like a bomb!,” Ayanda advised.
