Gareth Cliff’s Take on Racism Leaves Many Unimpressed
Gareth Cliff’s Take on Racism Leaves Many Unimpressed. If there is one personality whose tongue has landed him in hot water on numerous occasions, it has to be Gareth Cliff. Funny enough though, he always escapes the cancel culture, where celebrities don’t get jobs over the what they said or did in public.
Trending on social media is a video where Gareth is exchanging words with a young, black Mudzuli Rakhivhane. Rakhivhane was debating the issue of the Democratic Alliance’s election posters in Phoenix on CliffCentral.com with DA leader John Steenhuisen. The conversation was meant to see the three individuals share their thoughts on coalitions, the upcoming elections and their stance on racial issues in South Africa.
Things took a different turn when Gareth’s comments dismissed how Rakhivhane felt about race baiting. The radio personality dismissed her and said her personal experiences were “anecdotal and unimportant”.
“The IRR has shown us endless reports of people who say that racism is at the bottom of their list of priorities,” said Cliff.
When Rakhivhane replied by saying “they obviously don’t experience the type of racism I experience on a daily basis”, Cliff said: “Your personal experience is completely anecdotal and unimportant to all of us, sorry….I’m not interested in identity politics at all. Nobody is, they’re only interested in themselves,” Cliff shot back.
You can’t just dismiss the experience of people on the ground @GarethCliff.
Well done to @mudzy_r for maintaining your composure and making your point while you were being interrupted.

When they try to talk over you and tell you that your experiences as a black woman in South Africa do not matter🤦🏽♀️. Racism is structural and even operates at a municipal level. The literal definition of black lives don’t matter. 💀 pic.twitter.com/i2KcVzjcCd

The @NandosSA sponsored RACISM in South Africa in 2021 = Brand Fail! You should have known better than to align urself with Gareth Cliff. Black people are the majority of your customers but instead of supporting content that has positive social impact you rally behind a racist. pic.twitter.com/lA6dDeuaU0

Every time I listen to something that Gareth Cliff has to say, I wonder why people think some random DJ/podcaster is held up as this amazing intellectual who needs to be listened to

It's a really interesting phenomenon of caucasians becoming more and more right wing the older they get..
Gareth Cliff who was a yt "liberal" young man and is now low key a middle aged yt supremacist who denies that racism is an actual thing.
Yt SAns are gaslighting us..
