The flamboyant businesswoman, author, philanthropist, reality show star and socialite’s problems started after reports that she owed SARS R37m in back taxes. On top of that players at her Royal AM football club reportedly went on strike over unpaid salaries. Players did not return to training following the Festive Season break, resulting in their upcoming Betway Premiership game against Chippa United being postponed. The club also got hit by a FIFA transfer ban over the outstanding payment of Samir Nurkovic, who the club owes R15 million in salaries (plus interest). Eventually SARS closed in on Mam’Mkhize and Royal AM suffered expulsion a few months back.
When the world laughed at her woes, Mam’Mkhize was busy working. She has just revealed that she is still in the football business, now with a different team. Mam’Mkhize is the new president of Mbabane Highlanders AM Football Club and was unveiled at a glittering function in Eswatini. She was accompanied by her son, Andile Mpisane, his wife Tamia, and a whole entourage at the launch.
As the new president, Shauwn has already rebranded the club and added the gold colours of her former PSL club Royal AM onto the black and white corporate colours of Highlanders. This is to show unity between the two brands and countries.
