Thuso Mbedu Showered With Heartfelt Shout Outs For Her 30th Birthday. On the 8th of July 1991, a star was born. That star is the one and only Thuso Mbedu. The award winning actress has officially joined the dirty 30’s, and she took to social media to announce to her fans and followers that today she is 30 years of age.
Despite her tender age, Mbedu has achieved a lot thus putting the country on the map. In 2017 and 2018, she was nominated consecutively for the Best Performance by an Actress award at the International Emmy Awards. These nominations were for her lead role Winnie, in the drama series Is’Thunzi.
Our very own golden girl, recently bagged herself another international award nomination. Mbedu has been nominated at the upcoming Black Reel Awards under the Outstanding TV Movie/Limited Series Actor & Actress category. This is for her role on Amazon Video limited series The Underground Railroad. The category boasts Hollywood giants such as Chris Rock, Tessa Thompson, Dule Hill, Cynthia Erivo among others. She is also among the predictions for the Lead Actress in a Limited Series or TV Movie Emmy award
On other projects, Mbedu has also played Kitso Medupe in the soap opera Scandal!, Nosisa in Isibaya, and Boni Khumalo in Saints and Sinners. She will also star alongside Viola Davis in the upcoming historical epic The Woman King, directed by Love & Basketball director Gina Prince-Bythewood.
