Masasa Mbangeni On How She Became A Fan of this Renowned Author and Screenwriter. It does take one great person to know another. Masasa Mbangeni, who continues to do amazing things for the arts, has just given another creative artists his flowers.
The award winning actress and TV personality has just revealed that she is a Deon Meyer fan. This all started after she got acting gigs after a drought from acting. Masasa got cast on Devil’s Peak and Heart of a Hunter round about the same time. As hectic as it appeared to be, she managed to complete the projects successfully thanks to the producers. Both films are adapted form Meyer’s bestselling books.
Devil’s Peak, is a five-episode crime thriller based on the best-selling 2004 novel by Meyer. In the series, Masasa plays Mbali Kaleni, Benny’s detective colleague, Benny is played by Hilton Pelser. Devil’s Peak also stars, Sisanda Henna playing Thobela Mpayipheli desperately seeking justice after the untimely murder of his son. Heart of The Hunter is the on-screen adaptation of the book of the same name, also written by Meyer. The film is directed by SAFTA Winning Mandlakayise Walter Dube.
“Also this how I became a Deon Meyer fan. After years away from acting, I get cast in two separate projects, for different networks, shooting in my favorite city at the same time. Somehow it worked, I was so grateful that the producers made it work,” Masasa said.
These projects also gave Masasa the opportunity to take her broken heart and turned it into art.
