Graduate in Training – Gx PED Business Enablement Opportunity at Eskom Sunninghill

Eskom is inviting applications from suitably qualified graduates for its Graduate in Training: Gx PED Business Enablement learning programme, based at Megawatt Park in Sunninghill, Gauteng. This internship opportunity falls within the Business Enablement Department of the Primary Energy Business Unit and is designed to provide structured institutional training and practical workplace experience. It is aimed at South African graduates with relevant technology, computing, information systems or quantitative qualifications who want to develop their professional capabilities within the energy sector.

The Eskom Graduate in Training Programme in Business Enablement offers an opportunity to connect academic knowledge with workplace learning in a large operational organisation. The programme is intended for individuals who have completed a qualifying bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics or Statistics. Applicants whose qualifications are in Mathematics or Statistics must have strong programming and database skills, and the qualifying degree must carry 360 credits.

Eskom is looking for candidates who demonstrate integrity, professionalism, initiative and a willingness to learn. Strong communication, interpersonal, negotiation and liaison skills are important, alongside the ability to work effectively as part of a team and maintain a customer-focused approach. Successful candidates will undergo the recruitment process and, if selected, will be placed within Eskom Operations across its divisions. The internship offers market-related remuneration, and applications must be submitted by 31 October 2026.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in the institutional training provided through the Eskom Graduate in Training: Business Enablement programme.
• Complete on-the-job training to gain practical exposure to the workplace and relevant organisational processes.
• Apply academic knowledge gained through a qualifying degree to assigned learning activities and workplace tasks, as appropriate to the programme.
• Develop an understanding of the Business Enablement Department and its role within Eskom’s Primary Energy Business Unit.
• Familiarise yourself with Eskom’s policies, procedures and organisational requirements.
• Participate in structured learning activities designed to support professional development and workplace readiness.
• Learn from the guidance and experience of relevant employees and supervisors throughout the programme.
• Develop effective communication skills when engaging with colleagues, supervisors and other stakeholders.
• Build positive working relationships through collaboration, professional conduct and effective interpersonal communication.

Requirements and Skills

• A fully completed bachelor’s degree carrying 360 credits in one of the following fields:
  • Computer Science.
  • Information Technology (IT).
  • Data Science.
  • Software Engineering.
  • Computer Engineering.
  • Information Systems.
  • Mathematics or Statistics, with strong programming and database skills.
• Must be a South African citizen.
• Must not have previously participated in or registered for a learning programme.
• Willingness to undergo Eskom’s recruitment and selection process.
• Willingness to undertake workplace placement within Eskom Operations across its divisions if successfully selected.
• Knowledge of Eskom’s policies and procedures is a relevant knowledge area.
• Good communication skills, including the ability to express information clearly and professionally.
