Miss Universe Crown Goes To Mexico. The day that many have been waiting for finally arrived. 76 contestants from across the world, took center stage Sunday evening at this year’s 69th annual Miss Universe competition. The prestigious beauty pageant took place at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood FL.
The beauty queen who walked away with the crown is Miss Mexico, Andrea Meza. 26 year old Meza, who is from Chihuahua City, is a model and make-up artist and has a degree in software engineering. Meza also serves as the official Tourism Brand Ambassador for her hometown of Chihuahua, according to Miss Universe Organization. She became the third Mexican woman to be crowned Miss Universe.
Meza took over from Zozibini Tunzi, the first Black woman from South Africa to win the crown. Zozi had worn the crown longer than anyone else, after emerging the winner in December 2019.
The fourth runner-up was announced to be Miss Dominican Republic. The third runner-up was Miss India. The second runner-up was Miss Peru and first runner up was Miss Brazil. Representing South Africa was our Miss SA 2nd runner up Natasha Joubert. Although, she put up a good fight, Joubert missed out on a spot in Miss Universe Top 21.
Access Hollywood host Mario Lopez and former Miss Universe winner Olivia Culpo served serve as co-hosts at event. And, the night’s big performer was “Despacito” singer Luis Fonsi.
