Kelly Khumalo Asks The SAMAs To Remove Her From The Nominees List

Kelly Khumalo Asks The SAMAs To Remove Her From The Nominees List. It’s not raining but pouring there by the SAMAs. The South African Music Awards dropped their nominations list a few days ago, and it has been nothing but one controversy after another.

One of the things that the public is not happy about, is the nomination of Boity Thulo for the Best Hip-Hop album nod. A lot of people questioned how come Boity bagged this nomination, since her album titled 4436 is unknown. They are not happy that someone who is prominent in the music scene like Makhadzi has been overlooked, but Boity got recognized for an album they are not even aware exists.

Kelly Khumalo, did not make things easy for the SAMAs, when she asked for her name to be removed from whatever list they added her on. Khumalo’s album received a nod for Best Afro Pop Album. The category has some of the best artists in SA, being, Vusi Nova, Simmy, Azania and Manu Worldstar.

Dear @TheSAMAs I humbly ask that you remove my work out of what ever category you might have nominated me for. As much as I respect what you do, I also ask that you respect my hard work and effort. #TheVoiceOfAfrica cc @UMGSA,” Kelly said.

This is not the first time the multi award-winning songstress and is not happy about awards. In 2020 Kelly discouraged her fans from voting for her in the the KwaZulu-Natal Entertainment Awards. Kelly made it clear to her fans that the awards, to her, were a waste of time when she delivered a one liner. She was contesting in the Best Female Artist category where she was up against her sister Zandie Khumalo, Nomcebo Zikode, Babes Wodumo, Holly Rey, Simmy, Cici, Shekinah and Zanda Zakuza.
