Thuso Mbedu Makes It On ELLE Magazine (US)’s Hollywood Rising Star Feature. Now this is what we mean by levels! When your talent is recognized in as far as the US, it goes without saying that you are a force. That only happens to a few people, one of them being, Thuso Mbedu. She is definitely the international acting scene by storm, and we are here for her breakthrough.
The award winning actress has been cast on the forthcoming Amazon Prime Video series, The Underground Railroad. Thuso will play the character of Cora Randall, a young woman who escapes the Georgia plantation where she has spent her entire life in bondage. Years earlier, Cora’s mother ran away without her, a sting that lingers as she struggles to evade capture and navigates the horrors that await across each state line. Thuso will make history with this role as the first South African actress to lead an American television series. She acts alongside American prominent actors such as, Chase W.Dillion and Aaron Pierre in the 11-part series.
As expected Thuso has got the attention of the international media. Together with another South Africa doing amazing things abroad, Nomzamo Mbatha, Thuso made it among Young Black Hollywood Stars to Watch in 2021 by Essence magazine. Just a few days ago, she celebrated her feature on The May 2021 issue of Vogue magazine. The issue honors fashion icon, Giorgio Arman. Another US publication Elle Magazine has just featured Thuso on their Hollywood Rising Star section.
