Sneak Peek! Candice Modiselle Makes Her Debut On The Queen. The day that many have been waiting for is finally here. Candice Modiselle is making her much anticipated debut on The Queen and it looks like she is bringing all the drama. The talented actress and media personality has been cast to play the feisty Mbali Tau on the popular Mzansi Magic telenovela.
She took to Instagram to share the good news, as well as a sneak peek into what to expect from this interesting character. From what Candice shared, Mbali is going to be Shaka (SK Khoza)’s love interest, something that is definitely going to upset his ex, Thando (played by Jessica Nkosi).
“Today is official #TheQueenMzansi Day, when the world gets to meet the feisty, independent young black Queen, Mbali Tau. ? To say it’s a pleasure being back on Mzansi’s screens would be an understatement, more so on a show that’s widely loved and celebrated.
Thank you @ferguson_films for betting on me. Thank you @skcoza & @jessicankosi for being nothing but a joy to play alongside thus far. Humbled to be part of the family,” Candice said.
The versatile star made her big break as a presenter on popular youth programme, YoTV. She was also a guest presenter on the SABC1 music shows Live AMP and Selimathunzi in 2018. Candice is not new in the acting scene. She played Lerato Matema in Generations: The Legacy for three years. She then took a slight break from acting to focus on her youth skills development company, Busetsa Media. In 2019 she landed her first starring role in television in the drama series Impilo (The Scam).
Although Candice, comes from a family of siblings who are making waves in the industry, she caved her own path to be where she is today. She was one of six finalists in the ACT DALRO performance scholarship competition 2012 and she graduated from the University of Witwatersrand in 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Dramatic Arts (Honours). Starting from 2013, Candice was turned down 18 times at auditions, before given a chance 3 years later at the age of 21. A true example that perseverance pays.
