Masasa Mbangeni Sings Tony Kgoroge’s Praises In A Heartfelt Birthday Shout Out. Talk about giving someone their flowers while they ca still smell them. This is exactly what Masasa Mbangeni is doing. The award winning actress is well known for giving credit where its due when it comes to fellow actors.
A few months ago she praised the multiple award winning actor and former colleague, Bongile Mantsai over his talent. Mantsai played Mthunzi Mayiza on e.tv Scandal! a character everyone loves to hate. He carried the role so well, that many were convinced he is that conniving in real life. On another post, Masasa spoke highly of Mantsai’s behavior when it comes to intimate scenes.
This time around, Masasa is shifting her focus to the iconic Tony Kgoroge who is celebrating his birthday today. Masasa has had the opportunity to work together with the talented actor, and shared all the wonderful memories they have had on set.
It’s @t4tonykgoroge birthday and it’s got me feeling a bit nostalgic. The arts gave me a big brother who’s just as passionate as me ! Tony has never sought to change me but always encouraged that I get to know myself better . Tony is an amazing dancer & almost every night before we would perform “Nongogo “ he would get the SM to play music and we would kizomba till it was time to head back into the wings ! So when Queenie opened the play exhausted , Masasa the actor was genuinely finished because Tony had me dancing ? first time I ate quinoa was because his beloved @sthakgoroge made him lunch & I always ate his lunch with him at rehearsal. That’s Tony , he’s Mr If I eat , we all eat,” Masasa said.
She also spoke about the amazing lessons she got from Kgoroge. One of the biggest things that Masasa got from Kgoroge, is learning to love and respect herself. As big brother, he also stood by her when the going was tough for her in the industry.
“I’m emotional because during a Tough time in life Tony showed up, when I was being paid less than everyone else, while everyone said “ Masasa must fight her own battles,” Tony alone stood up for me . We didn’t win but I wasn’t alone . Tony has stood up many times ,to his detriment , but with him around , you will never stand alone . Thank you Tau! You’re old AF but I love you . Thank you Mother Art for my annoying big brother @t4tonykgoroge . I love to old man! Thank you,” Masasa concluded.
