What You Need To Know About Mthokozisi Ntumba The Bystander Who Was Killed During Wits Protests. Talk about being at the wrong place at the wrong time. Mthokozisi Ntumba became a victim of circumstances on Wednesday when he lost his life during a protest by Wits University students in Braamfontein.
The students were reportedly protesting against financial exclusion, when this unfortunate incident took place. The police then opened fire with rubber bullets without prior warning. A video trending on social media shows, police officers shooting at the crowd, and the injured Ntumba battling to walk.
The news of Ntumba’s untimely death made countrywide headlines with a lot South Africans demanding justice. Police Minister Bheki Cele visited the family of Ntumba in Kempton Park, Johannegsburg today, Thursday, 11 March 2021. While no arrests have been made yet, the minister has promised officers will give their full cooperation to get to the bottom of Ntumba’s death and to make sure those responsible are held to account.
