Watch! uBettina Wethu Drops A Teaser Clip. The day that many of us have been waiting for is nearing. The much anticipated, uBettina Wethu will premier come Monday, 5 April 2021. The new exciting TV drama is a South African remake of Ugly Betty, which will feature the show’s first Black lead.

“uBettina Wethu” (Our Betty) is the story of a naïve rural girl who gets a job working for one of Johannesburg’s most eligible bachelors. Despite the challenges, she succeeds at winning his heart and excelling in business beyond her wildest dreams. Former MTV VJ Farieda Metsileng will play the role of Bettina Sikhakane. Zweli Dube plays the charismatic Dingaan Jiyane, Tsholofelo Mashishi, plays the matriarch of the family, Linda Jiyane and Lesego Tlhabi has been cast as the bubbly Zaza Moloi.

The sequence will comply with the journey of  Bettina Sikhakane as “a healthful, clever, however gawky, people-pleaser with a dated, unsophisticated sense of fashion, who finds her self-worth and picture challenged when she is employed at Nubia – a model administration firm, a spot the place at occasions folks worth picture over substance.

Ugly Betty originally aired on ABC between 2006 and 2010. The sitcom focused on a young woman named Betty Suarez who landed a job at a fashion magazine even though she wasn’t stylish and didn’t know much about fashion. The series is based on Fernando Gaitán’s Colombian telenovela Yo soy Betty, la fea, which has had many other international adaptations. The American version starred America Ferrera who won an Emmy for her role as Betty Suarez.

Our Bettina will debut on Monday, 5 April at 19:30 on SABC1 with three weekly episodes from Mondays to Wednesdays.

The supporting cast are Michael Potter as Brandon Thomas, Elliot Makhubo as Israel Sikhakhane, Mbasa Msongeli as Mpilo Hadebe, Brighton Ngoma as T-Bang Moeketsi, Ayanda Bandla as Lakhe Amon, Mhairi Fergusson as Amanda, Motshabi Tyelele as Ethel, Jason Willemse as Wendell and Alex Sono as Reggie.
