Sello Maake KaNcube is all smiles after his team went all out to make sure that his birthday celebration is a memorable one. The 61 year old veteran actor was surprised with a beautiful birthday photo shoot to mark his special day. Local shoe brand, Drip Footwear also made sure that Maake KaNcube stepped out in style. Another local brand, UD Fashion House got him looking all stylish in their cool gear.

Maake kaNcube isone of South Africa’s most esteemed actors and voice actors. He has performed in theatre, film and television both in locally, and internationally. Maake kaNcube is known for the leading role he played Archie Moroka on a local soap, Generations which airs on SABC1. He also starred in the in the long-running e.tv soap opera Scandal! as Lucas “Daniel” Nyathi. He narrated a 2008 natural history documentary Africa’s Outsiders about unusually pigmented wild animals, which was aired by Animal Planet.
He is currently working on a very exciting play, about the life of phenomenal woman, Palesa Brown. Palesa is one woman who has gone through a lot of pain in her life. After her fiancé died unexpectedly, she got in a battle with her would-be in-laws for his possessions. She also survived an abusive marriage, a stroke that threatened her life and the life-changing ordeal of rape. Through the play, Palesa will take us on her journey of life, love and victory.
Maake kaNcube is also an activist against gender based violence. He is the spokesperson for anti-GBV movement, Mzansi Act Now. He also once led a men’s march from Nasrec to the Union Buildings. Through his work with Mzansi Act Now, Maake Ka-Ncube wants to encourage men to speak openly about such issues. He himself has opened owned to his abusive ways.
