Listeners Give Thando Thabethe A Warm Welcome On Her 94.7 Debut. It goes without saying that filling someone’s big shoes is not an easy task, but having to fill DJ Fresh’s boots has to be on another level. Although many people may feel intimidated to replace The Big Dawg, Thando Thabethe did the task so effortlessly. Today the media personality and actress made her debut as a broadcaster on 94.7 and she is already a hit with listeners.

In March 2020, Thando revealed that she was leaving her radio job at 5FM after having been with the station for six years. She didn’t leave on a good note though, according to how she explained the situation on Twitter. Thando tweeted a thread explaining in detail her sad departure from 5FM. Her drive-time show was renewed and taken away from her a few days later after being misquoted for demanding a salary raise. She shared how she was then offered a weekend early morning slot which she feels was insult to her radio career.

“I then decided to take back the slot keeping in mind the impact it would have not just on me but the colleagues on my show who have families to feed. Yet again 5FM decided to stick to their original plan and offered me a slot I was again not able to accept,” Thando explained back then.

Sadly Thando heard after a few days that the Thabooty drive will be no more as it doesn’t fit into the 2/5 year plan of the SABC. To make matters worse, she got this information from colleagues or people on her show. That is when she took to social media to announce her resignation. Fast forward a year later, Thando has a job that many can only dream of. She is the host of 947 Drive with Thando, replacing veteran radio personality, Dj Fresh.
