SA Celebs Stand With Zimbabweans During The Ongoing Violation Of Their Human Rights #ZimbabweanLivesMatter

SA Celebs Stand With Zimbabweans During The Ongoing Violation Of Their Human Rights. The same energy that was applied a few months ago during the global Black Lives Matter movement is definitely needed here. Africans have endured the worst police brutality over the years and countries like Zimbabwe and South Africa have had their fair share of the sad experience.

The Zimbabwean government has turned the country into an Army state, citizens are being tortured and arrested. This all began when citizens stated protesting against corruption on the 31st of July. The government did not take this lightly and the likes Tsitsi Dangarembga, were arrested for leading the protests.

On Thursday, police warned that anyone attending the protests would only have themselves to blame and government officials have described the protests, which have been banned under restrictions on social gatherings during the Covid-19 pandemic, as a “planned insurrection”.

SA celebrities joined many tweeps who are against the violation of human rights by the Zimbabwean government. Influential people like Mmusi Maimane took to Twitter to stand in solidarity with Zimbabwean citizens and are asking for international intervention.
