Watch: Thuso Mbedu Shares A Teaser of The Upcoming Hollywood Series She Stars In. This is one series that may people are waiting in anticipation for. In October 2020, Oscar winning Barry Jenkins dropped a few teasers of his forthcoming Amazon Prime Video series, The Underground Railroad.
How heartwarming is it that our very own Thuso Mbedu is part of the cast! She acts alongside American actors such as, Chase W.Dillion and Aaron Pierre in the 11-part series. The SAFTA award wining actress has been cast to play Cora. The series chronicles young Cora’s journey as she makes a desperate bid for freedom in the antebellum South.
Just like the teaser that was shared by Jenkins a few moths ago, Thuso also managed to brig the needed attention to The Underground Railroad. She received complimentary messages from the likes of Rami Chuene, Zenande Mfenyana, Khaya Mthethwa, Khaya Dladla and may proud South Africans.

Thuso is definitely making 2021, her year. She was recently named “Young Black Hollywood Stars to Watch in 2021” by Essence. Another local celeb who made the list is the phenomenal Nomzamo Mbatha.
Thuso is also among actresses eyed for the co-lead on the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series. Other actresses considered are Naomi Scott, who portrayed Princess Jasmine in Disney’s Aladdin remake and Anula Navlekar, a relative unknown who recently graduated from the Yale School of Drama.
