Uyinene Mrwetyana Foundation Launches Its Youth Development Programme. August 2019, will go down history as one of the most painful for the Mrwetyana family. University of Cape Town student, Uyinene Mrwetyana was raped and murdered by post office worker, Luyanda Botha.

In celebration of the life, the Uyinene Mrwetyana Foundation was then founded. Uyinene was known to be inquisitive, forthright and vocal about the various social ills which plague our society, including patriarchal oppression and issues of gender-based violence. It is for this reason that the Foundation’s main aim is to empower young people to stand against violence.

The Uyinene Mrwetyana Foundation has now launched its Youth Development Programme. This Programme was founded to see a South Africa that is led by a socially responsible, proactive and well-equipped youth.
