Macgyver “MacG” Mukwevho and friend Sol Phenduka were chatting about transgender women where words like she-male and women with a dick flew around.

This infuriated the LGBTQ+ community who asked for the YouTube channel to be shut down and for MacG to be cancelled. Eyes were also fixated on Old Mutual, as the sponsor. The organization has released a statement in which they revealed that Macg’s sponsorship has been terminated with immediate effect.

“To say the least, Macg’s commentary was both ignorant and insensitive, clearly showing that much education needs to happen, especially in a country where people continue to be ostracized, killed, abused and raped for being who they are,” the statement read.

It goes without saying that when it comes to these kind of issues and decisions taken, there will always be different views. Not everyone is happy with the stance that Old Mutual took. They believe there should be education when it comes to these kind of issues, instead of taking ‘drastic’ measures like cancelling a person.
