SA Celebs We Lost In 2020. This has been by far one of the worst years to mankind. On top of Covid-19 deaths, SA has also lost a number of talented celebrities under various circumstances. From media, sports, music and all sorts of performing arts, we have buried both promising and veteran stars.
Just this year alone we have lost the likes of veteran media personality Bob Mabena, veteran actresses, Mary Twala and Candy Moloi, veteran actors, Charles Maja and Allen Booi, talented Kwaito star Mshoza and so many others.
Bob Mabena
His death shocked many across the country and beyond. Bob Mabena suffered from heart attack where he was admitted in hospital.
Mary Twala
She will go down in history as one of the best we have ever had. 81 years old Mary Twala passed away in hospital, after battling a long illness.
Candy Moloi
2020 also claimed another legendary actress Candy Moloi. She is famous for her role as Vho-Makhadzi on Venda soapie Muvhango. Mama Moloi has been sick for a while, until her death.
Mshoza
South Africa suffered yet another heavy blow, when Mshoza passed away a month ago. The talented musician who was diabetic, died at the age of 37.
V Mash
Come back superstar Vinolia Mashego was well known to her fans as “V-Mash”. Vinolia was a celebrated TV host and actress. She passed away at age of 56 in April 2020.
Big Boy Maja
Big Boy Maja was one of the most loved actors on SABC1 show, Skeem Saam. The talented actor died in April, after he suffered from a stroke.
Sipho Ngema
Talented actor Sipho Ngema died of heart failure caused by pulmonary hypertension, the Mzansi actor was much best know of his roles in Uzalo and Rythym City
Allen Booi
Veteran actor Allen Booi, is among the stars we lost in 2020. Booi was best known for his role as Mike in the SABC1 drama series Tsha Tsha and as Godfrey Xaba After Nine.
Karabo Mokhubela
Another Skeem Saam actor Karabo Mokhubela, also passed away this year. He played the character Jazzy T and was 40 years of age at the time of his death. The causes of his death was not revealed
Jovan Muthray
Jovan Muthray was great South African comedian and an actor in IMBEWU:The seed as Nilesh. Jovan Muthray died after allegedly committing suicide in June this year.
Thandeka Mdeliswa
Thandeka, who starred in several TV productions including iKani, eKasi: Our Stories and the film Uthando Lukayisa, was shot in Evander, Mpumalanga, on September 3 in what her family described as “another incident of violence against women”.
