Shepherd Bushiri, A Wanted Man
Shepherd Bushiri, A Wanted Man. It doesn’t rain but pour for Shepherd Bushiri and his wife Mary. Just last week the duo, were granted bail, after spending two weeks in jail for charges that include fraud. A few days ago, Bushiri, announced that he and Mary fled to their home country Malawi, because they do not feel safe here in SA.
Bushiri, in a statement, said they were in Malawi temporarily due to security issues dating back to 2015, which had become worse since their release on bail. This was despite their bail conditions prohibiting them from traveling outside the country, pending the outcome of their fraud case. Unfortunately this means, Bushiri and his wife are fugitives, who are now wanted by the South African government.
Following their arrest, the two, were ordered to hand over all their travel documents to the authorities, along with the title deed of their property in Midstream worth R5.5m. They were also required to report at a police station as part of their bail conditions every Monday and Friday, of which they failed to do.
The Pretoria Magistrate’s court has issued warrants of arrest and revoked the R200 000 bail for the Bushiris.
