Zozibini Tunzi Shares Her View On The Weave vs Natural Hair Debate
Zozibini Tunzi Shares Her View On The Weave vs Natural Hair Debate. Many regard women with weaves as fake, whereas they embrace natural hair sisters. Others regard natural hair as unkempt, and prefer extensions. Having noted all of those facts, Zozibini Tunzi, defied many standards of beauty when she went on to clinch both Miss SA and Miss Universe titles in 2019.
Our current Miss SA tittle holder, Shudufhadzo Musida, also beat the odds, by entering the prestigious competition, with a bald head. Both of these women are giving many black young girls that, hair is not the definition of beauty. Many though, have taken their victories as a way to bash women who prefer weaves and wigs.
One Twitter user, complimented Zozi, for her contribution in changing the perception of beauty that was previously tied to Miss South Africa. The tweep said Zozibini is giving weave girls a tough time, but Miss Universe was quick to correct the him.
“It’s actually not about that. It’s about autonomy. The ability of women expressing themselves however they choose to. It’s about saying we are all beautiful in our natural hair and in weaves for those who choose to. It’s not a competition but a celebration of ALL Women,” Zozi said.
