Redi Tlhabi Addresses Individuals Slamming Those Standing In Solidarity With Nigerians. For two weeks now, protests have been going on in Nigeria, over excessive force and abuse by the Special Armed Robbery Squad. The Special Armed Robbery Squad is alleged to have been accused of targeting and abusing citizens.
These protests have caught the world’s attention, with prominent people like former United States Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton calling on Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari to stop the killing of protesters. Some well known Nigerian celebs like Burna Boy and Davido, have also called for the abuse to end.
Here in South Africa, some Nigerians have embarked on a march in solidarity with their compatriots back home. Some of our local celebrities have also shown concern over what’s currently happening in Nigeria. Having noted that though, others feel, South Africans must just stay out of this one, because they are not from Nigeria.
Well, Redi Tlhabi, took to Twitter to teach those with a problem, a thing or two. The journalist and media personality reminded everyone that, we are global citizens who denounce brutality wherever it occurs.
“To this crowd: “You are not from Nigeria, stop talking about it.” Or “A bo Redi are now experts on Nigeria,”Take your myopic provincialism & pettiness elsewhere. We are global citizens who denounce brutality WHEREVER it occurs. We will speak & write,” she said.
