Hulisani Ravele Calls The Upcoming KZN Entertainment Awards “Wasteful Expenditure”
Hulisani Ravele Calls The Upcoming KZN Entertainment Awards “Wasteful Expenditure”. Awards ceremonies have always been an integral part of our entertainment industry. Even during lockdown, we still got to experience virtual awards ceremonies like the SAFTAs and SAMAs.
One award event that has everyone talking, is the upcoming Kwazulu Natal Entertainment Awards. Not many people are happy with the awards, which are billed for December 15th. One of those not impressed is media personality Hulisani Ravele.
Just like most people, Hulisani cited that, there is a lot of things that could be done with the money instead of hosting the event. She spoke about dilapidated schools, kids who cross dangerous rivers and walk many kilometers to and from school. Not forgetting those at home because they can’t afford tuition.
“I’m all for celebrating those who do well, the arts, mara please, this is wasteful expenditure…..And before you say that the DAC’s budget is what is being tapped into and not DBE, shup, there are still many ways that these funds can more purposefully used to uplift members of the arts community in the province. This ain’t it,” Hulisani said
The awards will be held at the Durban ICC, where the province’s most accomplished entertainment achievers will be awarded glittering trophies and cash prizes. Category winners will pocket R100 000 and the overall winner, the KZN Darling will be R500 000 richer.
