10 Reasons Why You Are Not Getting Employed

Today there are way more things considered when hiring someone than just degrees and experience. You would be surprised to see someone who doesn’t have the same qualification or experience as you do get the job. If you are finding it hard to get hired maybe there are some things you are not doing right.

Below are some reasons why you haven’t gotten that dream job you spent years preparing for.

1.You weren’t prepared for the job

You might know that you want a job and actually apply for it but there needs to be much more preparation done. Do some research on the job and the company. Know what you are doing and don’t look surprised or scared in the interview.

2.There was no chemistry

Maybe you are too serious during your interviews, you are not relatable. The person interviewing you also takes into consideration that they will be working with you, you will be spending more time with each other, always try to relax and make the interview more like a conversation but still professional

3. Your expectations on the job were low

How do you expect to get hired when you don’t believe you can get the job? If you are going to put effort in applying for a vacancy believe you are the perfect person for the job. The interviewer will see through you that you don’t have confidence.

4.The interviewer didn’t believe you were interested

It might be the reason that you weren’t fully present during your interview. Focus on your interview, switch off your phone. Ask questions about the company, show that you are interested and excited for this new venture even though you are not hired yet.

5.Wrong application information

Make sure whatever is written on your C.V. is correct. Do not lie about your qualification or where you have worked or the position you held. Be honest, don’t lie because you will get caught. Check your spellings and layout of your C.V. make it interesting.

6.Your references didn’t support you

Never underestimate the power of references, believe me they follow up on them. Don’t lie about where you have worked. Also stay in good books with you your current and past employers. Their feedback says a lot about if you are a hard worker and someone who is free to work with.

7. Already asking for favours

Understand that this is an interview, know what to say and when to say it. You can have questions on things you don’t understand only when it’s necessary but do not be asking for favours already. Don’t try negotiate the working hours even if they ask you, agree with the interviewer.

8. Don’t boast about your current or previous job

Whatever position you held or which company you used to work for just leave it in the C.V. Don’t say how great you were in your previous job, stay humble. The interviewer might see you as a problem in the future and your point might not come out the way you intended it to, so just keep quite.

9. Saying something inappropriate

This is an interview, talk about the job you are applying for. Stay focused and don’t say anything you shouldn’t in trying to please the interviewer. Don’t badmouth your current or previous employer no matter how terrible they were. The interviewer might think you could do the same to their company when you leave.

10. Social networks

These days it’s easier to track someone and get to know their personality because of social media. Be careful what you post on your social platforms. It seems like it’s not a big deal but it can make you lose that job you’ve always wanted. Think before you post!
