Thato Mokoena Rules Out Infidelity As The Cause of Her Split From Gash1. They were by far one of the best couples to come out of a reality show. Thato Mokoena and Gashwan Brandon Mthombeni met on Big Brother Mzansi Season III, went on to get married and welcome a son.
The two reality show stars have been serving nothing but epic relationship goals since being together. While in the house Thato and Gash1 stood by each other even when some housemates gave them a hard time. After the show, they got serious, and eventually got married three years ago. In 2025, they welcomed their son, who completed their perfect family.
Sadly, what seemed like a picture perfect family is no more. Over the weekend, Thato took to social media with an official statement announcing their split. The media personality, actress, reality show star and overall entertainer stated that the statement was out of respect for their respective families. She cited irreconcilable incidents that happened over the past few days as a result of their split. Since they go against her standards and values, Thato thus decided to walk away.
Many are hoping this is some kind of a prank as they loved the couple. The fact that they did content together a day before the announcement gives their fans hope. Although Thato has taken down pictures of Gash1 on Instagram, he on the other hand still has her pictures, and his bio still states he is married.
“Our families have met to discuss the matter, and as I have shared with them and in his presence, this is a decision I stand firm on. Out of respect for our families ad for the sake of my son, I will not be going into further details.”
“I respectfully ask that this does not turn into a Thato vs Gash1 battle. We met, fell in love, tries building a family to the best of our abilities. For me, I am heartbroken, but need to soldier on and continue working,” Thato said.
Immediately after Thato posted this, many accused Gash1 of cheating. They feel infidelity is one thing where many draw the line. Thato has however set matters straight, saying it’s not cheating and neither is it gender based violence.
