Lebo Mashile Explains Why She Got The Covid-19 Vaccine Ahead of Many Frontline Workers. With the covid-19 pandemic escalating every single day, most of our hope at the moment lies in vaccines that can do away with the virus. The first batch of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine arrived in South Africa in February and so far only a small fraction of people have bee vaccinated. Priority was given to health care workers and those over the age of 60.

Among those people who have been open about getting the vaccine is, Lebo Mashile. The TV personality and poet shared on Twitter that she got the vaccine at Baragwanath Hospital alongside some front line workers. Lebo decided to go public about her experience as well as raise awareness about the whole process. Unfortunately she has come under fire for receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.

I woke up before dawn to head to Baragwanath Hospital to get a vaccine along with frontline healthcare workers. I am here to share my experiences and raise awareness about the process. My heart has been through a rollercoaster of emotions in the last 24-hours,” she began her Twitter thread.

Mashile took to Twitter to explain how she qualified for the vaccine. She explained that she has been working for African Alliance on how to use social media to motivate people to get vaccinated.

However, her reasons were not enough to convince South Africans that the process was fair.
