Regulations That Remain Unchanged On Level 2 Lockdown. President Cyril Ramaphosa, recently announced that a number of South Africa’s lockdown regulations will be relaxed as the country moves to a level 2 lockdown. This will be effective from Monday 17 August 2020 midnight.
Among the restrictions that Ramaphosa lifted include the alcohol and tobacco sale ban. All restrictions on inter-provincial travel have also been lifted. Restaurants, bars and taverns have been permitted to operate subject to regulations and gyms and fitness centres will also open, with approved protocols in place.
The following restrictions though, still remain the same on level 2 lockdown.
1. The curfew will remain in place from 22h00 – 04h00.
2. Gatherings of more than 50 people are still prohibited.
3. Spectators will not be permitted at sporting events.
4. International travel is still prohibited outside of the existing regulations.
In an act to balance lives and livelihoods, the president encouraged people to stay at home if they can and, if possible, to work from home, especially if they are over the age of 60 or have underlying conditions.
“With this new phase of our response, we need to put in place the practices and forms of behavior that we must continue to adopt for some time to come,” he said.
