Mpho Popps’ Comedy Special Comes To TV. Congratulations are in order for Mpho Popps. When so many people make jokes just for the fun of it, others are taking it as a lucrative career. Local comedians like Mpho Popps have taken their craft to a high level, and are well know both locally and across boarder.
The award winning comedian launched his comedy special, Black In My Day, in 2019, where he embarked on his first ever one man national tour, taking on 14 cities and venues across South Africa. Mpho is now about to reach a larger audience as Black In My Day finds a home on Mzansi Magic TV channel.
“I feel so blessed that my comedy speciqal #BlackInMyDay is coming to @Mzansimagic According to my mum, now I have made it. The premier is this Saturday 8th August, it’s a date,” Mpho announced.
Black In MyDay is a nostalgic trip down memory lane of how Mpho grew up and all the experiences that have brought him to the point he is at today. It is a play on what life was like back in the day as a black man and navigating those challenges. It is reflective on life in the hood, and drawing a comparison to flourishing in the suburbs. He muses on the rising black middle class in South Africa and gives them a voice.
