Meet The New Trending SA Hosts. Out with the old in with the new. Trending SA is back after going off air for a couple of months. This time around though, the SABC3 live studio based daily talk show is coming with a whole new presenters and a new time slot.
Trending SA is coming through with new faces, Elma Smit, Refiloe Mpakanyane and Mablerh. It will come to you live every Monday to Friday in primetime at 18:00 from the 3rd of August 2020 on SABC 3. Trending SA is coming as a totally revamped show with more new things on the table.
Each week, the panelists will table an introspective debate sure to spark and inspire South Africa to join in on the conversation. Trending SA will also invite thought leaders and experts from different industries for insightful and impactful interviews. Friday kicks off the weekend with all things sports, a little bit of play, and a supersized round table discussion with influencers analyzing and weighing in on top stories of the week.
The show is well known for its energetic original presenters being Nina Hastie, Kuli Roberts, Pabi Moloi and Dr Musa Mthombeni who joined the show after the departure of Shaka Sisulu. Trending SA used to trend on social media every time it aired, and we hope the new presenters will give viewers something to talk about.
Meet the fresh faces below;
Elma Smit,
Elma is best recognized as a sport host in South Africa and through much of the cricket and rugby-loving world for her work on two World Cups in 2019, for global sport governing bodies the International Cricket Council and World Rugby. She’s spent over a decade in many different radio roles at 5FM. Currently she’s the sport anchor on the Breakfast with Martin Bester on Jacaranda FM.
Refiloe Mpakanyane
Journalist and experienced broadcaster, Refiloe Mpakanyane is also a new face on the show. Refiloe has produced Metro FM’s talk show as well as an arts and culture show on Radio 2000. She hosted her own Youth Talk show on Radio 2000 and went on to host a Lifestyle and Arts show on Metro FM called La Bonne Vie. This dynamic woman has acted in the Clint Eastwood movie, Invictus (2009) and local feature film Nothing For Mahala (2013). Refiloe is also a voice over artist and MC
Mablerh
MaBlerh, is a musician, artist manager, radio personality and publicist. He obtained a Bachelor of Economics degree at Rhodes University in 2006 and worked at Unilever South Africa before moving to Johannesburg to nurture his career in the media industry. He managed TV personalities like Minnie Dlamini, worked as a publicist on brands like Amstel and music festivals. In 2012, April, he joined the Ukhozi FM’s Afternoon Drive Show (Woza Nabangani Bakho) as an entertainment news correspondent.
