Watch! Mary Twala’s Emotional Funeral Service. Today was the final day to pay respect to the late Mary Twala. The legendary actress was laid to rest on Thursday morning at Grace Bible Church in Soweto.
Mary’s son Somizi who was very close to his mom, was distraught the whole time of the funeral proceedings. Taking to the podium the emotional Somizi said, “It is every child’s nightmare. Finally it is here. It is the complete opposite of what I had in mind. In my mind I had planned to put one rose on the coffin … now she is in the most beautiful coffin and decorations, because she asked for it.”
“I know I have lost a mother on earth but gained the most powerful ancestor. Don’t be surprised if I rise beyond because I have the most generous ancestor … I promise to never make you an angry ancestor. Thank you for everything. I love you,”he closed his powerful speech.
Because of the Covid-19 regulations, only family, close friends and some industry colleagues came in to support the Twala and Mhlongo family. Those who attended observed the social distancing regulations, and those who could not attend, sent condolence messages through different mediums.
Mary who has been in and out of hospital due to diabetes, lost the battle on Saturday at Netcare Park Lane Hospital in Johannesburg at the age of 80.
