SA Celebs We Have Lost So Far During Lockdown. Many agree that 2020 is the year that should be cancelled. We are only half way through the year, but many people have been through the most. Due to coronavirus and lockdown, many have lost their loved ones, others have lost their jobs, whereas some have had their businesses close down.

The entertainment industry have also suffered a major blow as some of our stars lose their lives in a very short space of time. The likes of Vinolia Mashego, Mary Twala, Charles Maja are some of the stars we have sadly lost during lockdown. The saddest part of it all is fans and some colleagues not being able to bid these stars farewell because of the regulations we all have to adhere to.

Mary Twala

The nation has just suffered a heavy blow, after the announcement of Mary Twala’s death. The veteran actress passed away at the age of 80. Twala was also among the senior citizens President Cyril Ramaphosa bestowed with the 2019 National Orders Awards.

Vinoliah Mashego

In April this year we lost one of the most talented and versatile entertainers we have had in the country. Veteran TV personality, actress and singer, Vinolia Mashego’s death shocked the whole nation as she was making a comeback to the industry.

Charles Maja

Another well known personality whose death came as a shock to many of his fans was Charles Maja. In April the Skeem Saam actor was announced dead after a short illness. He played Big Boy Mabitsela on the popular SABC1 drama.

Sipho Ngema

Former Rhythm City and Uzalo actor Sipho Ngema passed away unexpectedly in April. Ngema suffered from pulmonary hypertension, which caused his heart to fail. His family, and fans across the country are still struggling to come to terms with his death.

Jovan Muthray

Comedian and actor Jòvan Muthray sadly passed away this past Sunday. He is best known for being one of the resident comedians on the SABC2 comedy variety game show #Karektas. Muthray solidified his mark as an actor on e.tv drama, Imbewu: The Seed.

Pheko Kgengoe

Now this is one death that reminds us that coronavirus is a monster and it is here. PR guru, Pheko Kgengoe who made his name around the music circles recently died from complications related to coronavirus.
