DJ Fresh Claps Back After Being Criticized For Declaring The 1st of June A New Year. Social media is abuzz with people celebrating entry to lockdown level 3 for various reasons. At this level, regulations have been eased, some learners are back at school and the alcohol sale ban has been lifted among other things.

The sale of alcohol seems to be one of the changes that has taken the country by storm. DJ Fresh, who is one outspoken celebrity joined the masses to celebrate what has been deemed as the new year.

“I don’t drink at home, so this is the only way I can celebrate The New, YEAH,” the radio veteran said.

As a public figure, obviously his tweet was going to reach a lot of people. One of them being a tweep who was not impressed with what Fresh said. “But the virus is still out there spreading and you calling it a new year to celebrate more people dying,” the tweep said.

Fresh did not take the comment lying down and defended his tweet, with a little bit of shade of course.

“I choose to celebrate and appreciate whatever new liberties we get …. no matter how incremental!! Just like you are exercising YOUR right to be a #Sourpuss!! I wish you could do it on somebody else’s timeline!!”
